James (Jim) S. Lynch

“You make a living from what you get, you make a life from what you give”

-Sir Winston Churchill

Jim Lynch became a lawyer because it meant he could earn a living while helping others who often could not help themselves. While many lawyers never see a courtroom, Jim spends much of his professional time in the courtroom fighting for people that have been injured in accidents or that have been taken advantage of by an insurance company. After September 11, 2001, Jim spent many hours representing families of victims at no charge. Additionally, Jim and his brother Arthur (his law partner) sponsor basketball clinics, little league teams and perform other charitable works for the communities in which they live and work.

Jim is married to Katherine and they are the proud parents of five children (a boy and four girls).  They belong to St. Gabriel’s Church where Katherine teaches CCD.  Jim coaches little league baseball and assistant coaches in football (whenever he can get there).  He also spends a lot of his free time watching his kids play soccer, lacrosse and cheerlead.  On weekends in the Spring, Jim plays softball in the Ho-Ho-Kus/Saddle River Softball league, where he captains a team.

He graduated from Don Bosco Prep in Ramsey, NJ, and then went to Fairfield University in Ct, and then St. John’s Law School in NY.   Jim’s great grandfather was a lawyer (in Paterson), along with his grandmother, grandfather, uncle and brother.  In fact, Jim is the fifth member of the Lynch family to graduate from St. John's University School of Law, where his grandfather taught trial practice and insurance law.

He is admitted to practice law in the state and federal courts of New Jersey and New York.   He is a well known and respected trial attorney with an excellent track record of success at trial. At the young age of 35, Jim won his first multi-million dollar case at trial.

Some of his verdicts and settlements have been published in The Association of Trial Lawyers Law Reporter, the New York Law Journal, the New Jersey Law Journal, the New Jersey Jury Verdict Reporter, the New York Jury Verdict Reporter, The Journal News, The Star Ledger, the Bergen Record and the Daily Observer.

Jim has successfully argued in the Appellate Divisions of both New Jersey and New York, resulting in multiple published legal decisions in both states, including the seminal case of Mitzner v. West Ridgelawn Cemetery, recently cited by the United States Court of Appeals, Third Circuit.

He is an author and speaker in the field of personal injury litigation. In addition to his publications in the New York Law Journal and the St. John's Journal of Legal Commentary, Jim has published several books, including The 10 Commandments of Buying Insurance: An Insiders Guide to Purchasing Auto Home and Life; Ten Things You Need to Know if You Have Been Involved in a Car Accident in New Jersey and Ten Things You Need to Know if You Have Been Involved in a Car Accident in New York.

He is a member of The Million Dollar Advocates Forum, the AAJ NJ Educational Foundation's Speaker's Bureau, the American Association for Justice, the American Association of Justice of New Jersey, Trial Lawyers Care, the New Jersey State Bar Association, the New York State Trial Lawyers Institute and The New York State Bar Association.

Arthur V. Lynch

bios_supremcou_arthur.png

Arthur V. Lynch graduated from St. John's University School of Law in 1988. He had the distinction of being the first third generation graduate in the history of the school. He immediately set his focus on trial practice and personal injury litigation and quickly made his mark. At the age of 26, he attained his first jury verdict. By the age of 29, he was appointed Senior Trial Attorney at Progressive Insurance Company. By age 33, Mr. Lynch had been involved in more than 100 jury trials, many more than most lawyers have in their career. In 1994, Mr. Lynch took these skills into private practice. Since then, he has handled thousands of personal injury cases. He is a recognized expert in the field of insurance, insurance claims and related litigation. He is a frequent speaker on insurance issues and trial technique.

For the first 20 years of his career, Mr. Lynch defended personal injury cases. During the course of his career he tried cases for the major insurance carriers such as Allstate, Travelers, Farmers and Progressive. Mr. Lynch has had great success in the Courtroom. Over the course of a 12 year period from 1996-2008, Mr. Lynch won every case that he tried. In these cases, the jury always awarded less money than the final insurance company offer.

In 2008, he made a decision to follow his true passion, representing individuals and consumers. As of December 2008, Mr. Lynch terminated his relationships with the insurance carriers and no longer represents insurance carriers or their customers (insured's).

His years of experience with the insurance carriers provide him with keen insight into the mentality and settlement practice of the insurance carrier. This is a great asset when representing individual consumers.

Mr. Lynch has been certified by Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Trial Attorney. He has also been appointed by the State of New Jersey as a Foreclosure Mediator.

Arthur Lynch has been featured on the front page of The New York Law Journal and has published books and other literature on insurance issues. His books are noteworthy. The first, entitled The New York Tort Threshold, a legal treatise authored to teach personal injury attorneys as well as people in the insurance field, the complicated insurance issues that surround injury claims arising from automobile accidents. The second, The 10 Commandments for Buying Insurance, co-authored with James S. Lynch, is a comprehensive book geared to consumers regarding automobile, homeowner's and life insurance. These books assist consumers in understanding the various types of insurance coverage’s that should be purchased; how claims are made; and how claims should be handled.

Mr. Lynch is a member of the New York Bar Association, the New Jersey Bar Association, the New Jersey Association for Justice and the New York State Trial Lawyers Institute.
