About the Accident

One person was killed and 19 were injured after two NJ Transit buses collided in Newark Friday morning.

Reports indicate that the accident happened at 6 a.m. and that it appeared as though one of the bus drivers ran a red light and t-boned the other bus at the intersection of Raymond Boulevard and Broad Street.

The bus that was hit flipped onto its side upon impact and nearly split in half before coming to rest on a median. That bus was carrying 19 passengers at the time of the accident. All passengers, including the bus driver, were hospitalized with injuries. Seven people remain in critical condition.

The other bus was empty except for the driver and was lodged into the undercarriage of the t-boned bus. The driver died at the scene of the accident.

Accident Victims May Be Entitled to Compensation

As with most accidents, it appears as though this NJ Transit bus accident could have been avoided if the bus driver had not run the red light. Although the circumstances surrounding the accident remain under investigation, those who were injured or lost a loved one in the accident may have a legal claim and may be entitled to compensation.
